Community Crafting

The Parenting Centre has strong established links with a small informal community group called Threads which has core teams based in Liverpool and London. Both teams have experienced the many benefits of crafting and making on their own mental health, wellbeing and feeling part of a community. In a fast world, it has helped them to slow down. Crafting is proven to be good for our emotional and mental wellbeing and there is satisfaction in seeing a finished product we made ourselves subsequently share its own story. By sharing our skills we hope that others will experience these benefits too.

Threads is keen to make its workshops accessible and affordable. Threads has been successful on several occasions in gaining grant funding to deliver craft workshops which are free of charge to participants. Many participants felt more confident having learnt a new skill and commented how they felt less stressed. Other comments include:

“It’s enjoyable and good to communicate & work with others.”

“Thank you all for a pleasurable time and a great friendly meeting of different people.”

“It’s a fantastic way to get people together and talking.”

“It was such fun.”

“Great teachers.”
